The Seattle Aquarium Research Center for Conservation and Husbandry (SEARCCH) has been conducting research on the following:

Sea otters (Enhydra lutris)
Northern sea otters (E.l. kenyoni)
River Otters (Lontra canadiensis)
Alcids (sea bird)
Six gill sharks (Hexanchus griseus)
Giant Pacific Octopus (Enteroctopus doeflini)
Leafy Sea Dragon (Phycodorus eques)

Larval rearing of Puget Sound Teleosts
Population genetics of North Pacific Giant Squid

Sea Turtle rehabilitation / tracking.

The marine mammal exhibit features sea otters, harbor seals and fur seals and has the distinction of being the first facility in the world to host a successful live birth of a sea otter!!!
