January Clean drains (dishwasher, sink, bath tub, showers, washer, etc)
February Check security system and replace batteries as needed
March Inspect electrical lines at home entry
Lubricate garage hardware; adjust for smooth motion
April Fertilize landscaping, add / subtract plants
Clean windows and screens (remove storm windows)
May Clean gutters (remove Christmas lights!)
Check attic for leaks
Verify fire extinguishers are fully charged (you’ll be grilling soon)
June Paint / repair fences Stain / repair decks, verify level
Clean carpets and rugs (they'll dry best when you can open windows)
July Check exterior caulking at seams and windows
Check exterior siding, roof shingles for damage / security
August Repair driveway and walks as needed
Check home foundation for cracks / shifting
Inspect around home ventilation and air ducts; trim plants as needed
September Vacuum smoke detectors and test function
Check refrigerator door seals (clean out so you have room for holiday foods)
Turn on furnace pilot light; service furnace as needed
Have fireplace/woodstove cleaned and inspect chimney
October Clean gutters, then get ready for the holiday season:
Check handrails / guardrails for structural strength
Review circuit breakers and label correctly
Practice fire drill
November Drain hot water tank to remove sediment (you'll use less energy)
Review location of water shut-off valves, make sure they function
Cover exterior plumbing

December Relax if you can (did you finish your shopping early?)
